Vice President
I first joined DMMUK in 2005 and have been a committee member for over 15 years at present serving as Vice-President. My inspiration to join was primarily to serve the community and build on the foundations that our previous committee members had laid for us. DMMUK is a fantastic platform for enabling family and friends to come together to celebrate our religious festivals and rich Indian culture. It gives me great pleasure to see our community members prospering and adding value to society in their own unique ways.
My desire to join the Mandal stemmed from a wanting to effect positive change and to add value to the lives of our community members and local surroundings. I have also always believed that there is greater satisfaction to be gained from giving and sharing rather than from receiving. Being part of the Mandal gives us an opportunity to express ourselves, to acquire and develop our skills to do Seva which in turn helps in meeting future challenges for our community.
The Mandal is run by volunteers and any achievements can be attributed to the team and we hope to continue and build on the significant work that our founding members had put into bringing our Darji community in London together. I see our organisation as a large family which provides its members with a strong sense of belongingness which is very important in current times.
My vision for the future is to see our community grow, prosper and its way of thinking must evolve with the changing times and needs of our community members. We must encourage and nurture the young talent within our community and ensure that they remain grounded in our culture and collectively towards making a positive difference to our future generations, the environment and to society as a whole. In my free time, I enjoy reading, sports, gardening, and listening to music.
