DMMUK / News  / Young Darji Artist Komal Chikhalia in in the dance drama ‘Shakuntala’

IIt gives us great pleasure to announce the spectacular achievement of one of our Samaj’s young talented artist Komal Chikhalia.

Komal has been learning Indian Classical dance from the age of 7 with Subrang Arts, a leading arts organisation in Croydon. Over the years, Komal has persevered her training with lot of dedication and commitment. She started with a solo drama role of Shoorpankha in an earlier production ‘Janak Dulari Sita’ – hosted by Subrang Arts. This gave her lot of confidence and she has successfully gained the lead role of Shakuntala in the dance drama ‘Shakuntala’ which is being launched by Subrang Arts in September 2018.

‘Shakuntala’ is a dance drama adapted from the classic poem written by Kalidas. This spectacular dance drama in Hindi with English subtitles, features vibrant dances, colourful costumes, multi media projections – a magical theatrical extravaganza which will bring the endearing characters alive and cast a spell of rare classical charm. A romantic story of love, loss and redemption.

This production is going on a National tour, where Komal will be able to showcase her talent at numerous venues all over the country.

It is indeed a great achievement by one of our very own talented youngsters and we would like to encourage everyone to come and support Komal in her exciting endeavour.

We wish her all the best.
