DMMUK have been approached by Pradeep Tailor, Treasurer of the Shri Darji Gnati Seva Samaj of Mumbai regarding the devastating impact of the Covid 19 Pandemic is having on the lives of many Darji’s living in Mumbai. Most of you will have seen the harrowing report of deaths in the media – it is shocking, with almost 70% of their livelihoods affected including the ability to earn, feed themselves, run their households, medical supplies and education.
DMMUK have made an immediate donation of £2000 to the Samaj to support those families most in need and are extending the appeal to our Darji Mandal Community living in the UK. We have set a target to raise £6000 over the next 6 weeks – last year the Mumbai Samaj donated Rs.5000 (£50) to approx. 125 families and supplied food grains to around 30 families. Whilst this may not be a big amount – every penny will help.
DMMUK have set up a JustGiving page
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/darjimitramandal-oftheuk
with the appeal closing 31st May 2021. Once we have reached our target and sent the donation, the Shri Darji Gnati Seva Samaj of Mumbai will share details of how the money will be distributed.
For those who do not have the facility to donate online, you can send in a cheque to:
Mr. Bharat Tailor, 88 Queenborough Gardens, Ilford, IG2 6YB, cheques must be made payable to: Darji Mitra Mandal of the United Kingdom.
Please note, that this is the first time DMMUK has made such an appeal and we will appreciate whatever amount you are able to give, which will go a long way in helping our fellow Darji’s living in Mumbai who have lost loved ones and been affected financially.
Let’s all make a difference in helping our fellow settled Darji’s. Please give generously.
Many thanks
DMMUK
